“Since joining our Charleston office over a decade ago, Michael has demonstrated a commitment to our clients and the South Carolina Division that reflects the best of our firm,” said Dave Crutchfield, PE, Vice President at RMF. “Our firm is differentiated in the market through a team that leads with technical rigor and dependability. Michael has exemplified these qualities, and bringing him on as a shareholder is a natural next step that we are excited to take.”

Throughout his tenure, Scruggs has developed a passion for healthcare and laboratory projects as well as educational and commercial facilities, earning a reputation for clear, proactive communication with clients and the consistent delivery of high-quality work. He is skilled in defining and developing a variety of MEP systems tailored to a building’s specific needs and has extensive experience delivering solutions for complex renovation and new construction projects.

Scruggs works closely with clients, design teams, facility personnel, construction managers, and owners’ representatives to produce coordinated engineering solutions that meet project performance goals, budgets, and schedules. His technical expertise, combined with his dedication to both his team and the South Carolina Division, has made him an invaluable contributor to the firm’s continued growth and success.

Throughout his career, Scruggs has partnered with a diverse range of healthcare and higher education facilities across the Southeast, bringing a deep understanding of the operational demands and technical requirements of these environments. His healthcare experience spans virtually every hospital program space, including patient rooms, operating rooms, emergency departments, NICUs, radiology and imaging suites, nuclear medicine departments, infusion suites, clinics, laboratories, pharmacies, clean rooms, and central utility plants.

His recent project contributions include work with Prisma Health, Self Regional Healthcare, and The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Scruggs is a graduate of RMF’s Project Management Program and the Class of 2025 Leadership Development Program and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University.
