A story that blends sports tradition, architectural innovation, and fan experience—the renovation of the Lindner Family Tennis Center, home of the Cincinnati Open.

As the oldest professional tennis tournament in the U.S. still held in its original city, and the second-largest summer tennis event in the country, the Cincinnati Open welcomes over 200,000 fans each year and is broadcast in more than 150 countries. When the venue needed a modern refresh, the stakes—and the visibility—were global.
Serge Ferrari Group partnered with Gensler Austin and installer Queen City Awning to transform the spectator experience, supplying 18,000 square feet of its Soltis Proof W88 composite membrane across 30 canopy and shade structures spanning courts, seating zones, and food and beverage areas. The result is a light, airy network of brilliant white canopies that shields fans from sun and rain while preserving the open-air energy that defines live tennis.

Completed in July 2025, the project leaned on Soltis Proof W88 for its waterproof translucency, dimensional stability, and lightweight strength—delivering comfort and weather protection without sacrificing brightness or sightlines. The story also carries a sustainability angle: choosing fabric canopies over heavier metal or HDPE alternatives reflects a “do more with less” approach aligned with the venue’s pursuit of LEED certification.
