Before the first snows begin to fall, make sure to prepare your home to handle upcoming winter weather. A key step is to contact your roofer and arrange for retrofit installation of an efficient snow guard system to help prevent dangerous avalanching of snow from your roof.
“It’s important to be proactive when it comes to your roof,” says Brian Cross with Rocky Mountain Snow Guards. “By having snow guards installed ahead of snow season, you can stop treacherous snow slides from coming off your roof that could damage your property or possibly hurt someone.” Cross recommends homeowners and roofers use the new Everest Guard EG10*, made especially for retrofit roof installation projects. The 10-inch snow guard can be used on metal shingle, cedar shake and shingle, as well as synthetic slate and shake roof types. The 5.8-inch strap features a versatile hole pattern so it can also be used in applications previously requiring a seven-inch snow guard. The pad area is 4.28 square inches.

“These are ultra-strong, gusset-designed snow guards built to provide maximum protection for your home,” says Cross. “EG10s are stackable, welded steel snow guards. They’re engineered with a pre-drilled strap for quick, trouble-free nail or screw fastening, making them perfect for fast retrofit installations by professional roofers.”
Available in attractive Dark Bronze, Black, and Harbor Gray finishes to complement any roof’s style, EG10s deliver lasting durability and superior snow retention.
