LeChase Construction Services is creating an expanded interventional radiology suite at Northern Westchester Hospital/Northwell Health in Mount Kisco, N.Y.
The suite will include a new Siemens X-ray/CT machine. Such hybrid imaging systems increase the accuracy of results – aiding in diagnosis of medical issues. The room will be enclosed with lead-lined walls and leaded-glass windows to prevent radiation from escaping. Additional scope includes renovating the control room and adding an equipment storage room.
“The new suite is surrounded by occupied space in an active hospital, so much of the work is carefully coordinated with hospital and facilities staff,” said Steve Corletta, project executive in the LeChase New York Metro office in Armonk. “It’s vacated space but it’s in an active area.”
Crews have installed STARC construction walls to carry out the work without disturbing surrounding hospital activities. Designed to look like permanent walls, these modular temporary barriers reduce construction noise while blocking dust and other contaminants from escaping the construction area.
Designed by Pomarico Design Studio Architecture of Newburgh, N.Y., and engineered by Loring Consulting Engineers of New York City, the project began in March and is expected to be completed in the fall.
