WHAT: The 32nd Annual Latina History Day®
March 10th, 2023 will be proclaimed as Latina History Day in Los Angeles County, a commemoration of the vast cultural, economic, and civic contributions Latinas to the U.S. In honor of the day, Hispanas Organized for Political Equality’s (HOPE) will host its 32nd Annual Latina History Day® Conference on March 10th at the Los Angeles Convention Center, bringing together more than 1,000 women to celebrate the historic and current achievements of Latinas, while embracing the rich diversity of the Latina experience. Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis will motion to proclaim March 10th as Latina History Day during the March 7th County Supervisor Board meeting and will present the proclamation during the luncheon main stage program of HOPE’ Latina History Day conference.
Latinas are 25% of Los Angeles County residents, they represent 20% of the population in the state of California and are mother to over half of the children in the state. Not only are Latinas influential, the success of California and the United States is inexorably tied to Latina success.
HOPE has been instrumental in securing local, county, state, and congressional officials to declare the second Friday in March, during Women’s History Month, as Latina History Day. Latina History Day® is the only conference in Los Angeles that is designed specifically to meet the needs of Latina professionals; offering resources, skill development, and networking opportunities to advance their careers.
