Albertsons is trial-running a store in Boise, Idaho, that has replaced traditional checkout lanes with all self-checkout stations staffed with assistants. The store also has plans to add carts from vendor Veeve that will use artificial intelligence and store cameras to allow shoppers to skip the checkout lanes entirely and check out via card swipes on the carts themselves.
