U.S. restaurant chains including Subway, McDonald’s, Outback Steakhouse and Johnny Rockets are in expansion mode in Brazil despite the country’s current economic downturn. The chains are signing new franchisees and negotiating deals on rent as they bet on the country’s 100 million-strong middle class to make a comeback, according to a The Wall Street Journal story.
