Ways to Brand Your Construction Company
Construction companies are in a weird position when it comes to marketing because often your work speaks for itself. Although, that won’t happen if you don’t have any work in the first place. Attracting clients and keeping repeat ones is a necessity for any business, and for a construction business laying out your groundwork is a bit different than other industries. However with the proper framework setup you can effortlessly brand your business to be structurally sound.
Define Yourself
The first thing you have to consider before you think of any branding is what your construction company actually does. This will in turn be your biggest branding influence. This means narrowing down what you specialize in. Do you work in residential or commercial? Are you more interested in remodelling or structuring? Or maybe you specialize in a specific material? Narrowing down your specifics will also help you narrow down your branding.
Define Your Look
Logos are an important part of brand identity as they are an immediate indicator of who you are as a company. When considering logo design it’s important to keep things simple and highlights what kind of construction you do. Again, focus on what you do as a company. Use colors that make people think of the type of construction you do, such as shades of wood or brick reds. This will tell clients that you pay attention to details and think things through. Be careful to not over design your logo. Logos should be interesting, but should also be recognizable if it needs to be printed on something small like StickerYou. Involving too many ideas like fancy fonts or complex images can deter people from your business and make you appear unorganized and haphazard.
Define Your Team
Once you have your specifics in order, it’s time to think about how you want to get your team in order. Working with a group of people whose skills you know and trust is great, but a lot of the time your client’s won’t know these people. Having a bunch of strangers in your home can feel invasive and off putting for some, so it’s important that your team have some sort of uniformity. Custom printed patches of your logo and company name adhered to articles of clothing or certain tools are a clever way of keeping your team organized and recognized.
Define Your Audience
A final key element of branding is doing so for the type of clientele you want to attract.
An office tower remodeling company in an urban centre needs to advertise and brand differently than a contractor who does renos for family homes. Knowing who your business is for and branding accordingly instill trust in potential clients because it not only highlights that you know what you’re doing, but you know how to fulfill the client’s needs. Additionally, knowing and positioning your brand in market tells potential clients what your strengths are in an arena where lots of other companies are vying for projects. Branding doesn’t have to be difficult, and you should feel as passionate about it as you do your construction company. An attention to detail and focus on your ideas will ultimately be translated to others, and the same detail and focus can be applied to any project you’ll encounter.
