The Rosendin Foundation, a dedicated 501(c)(3) non-profit committed to positively impacting communities and empowering individuals, brought TRF Camp Build, a free summer camp designed to ignite the joy of building in middle school students, to McKinney this summer. TRF Camp Build took place for the first time on May 17 at Modular Power Solutions, 400 Harry McKillop Blvd.

TRF Camp Build was a unique, free co-ed day camp designed for current 6th-8th graders. The camp engaged an equal number of girls and boys, totaling 15 local students from Allen, Dallas, Farmersville, Frisco, McKinney, Sherman, and Van Alstyne. Under the expert guidance of skilled professionals, students engaged in a variety of activities, including personal safety training, pipe bending, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and lamp wiring.

“Through TRF Camp Build, The Foundation brought together professionals from Modular Power Solutions and the IBEW to empower McKinney’s youth with practical skills and ignited their passion for building, all at no cost to families,” said Jolsna Thomas, President of The Rosendin Foundation. “This program served as a gateway for students to explore the electrical construction industry, fostering innovation and growth in our community for years to come.”

“Construction professional volunteers play a crucial role in guiding the kids, sharing their expertise and passion for the industry,” said Thomas. “Their dedication and mentorship provided insights and inspiration to the young participants. The camp wouldn’t be as impactful without them.”

The program garnered substantial support from notable contributors, including Rosendin/Modular Power Solutions, Milwaukee Tool, DeWalt, United Rentals, Border States, Graybar, Klein Tools, Dickies, Sherwin Williams, and BURNDY/Hubbell. The support of these sponsors and donors played a crucial role in the success of TRF Camp Build, helping to create positive and lasting impacts in the community.

The Rosendin Foundation, an advocate for community well-being, supports various non-profit organizations across the country that focus on emotional, nutritional, and occupational health programs. 2025 marks the third year of TRF Camp Build, with McKinney being the first of five locations. Other cities include Austin, Huntersville, Sterling, and Commerce. Information about the camp can be found at https://www.therosendinfoundation.org/camp-build/.
