Brooklyn-based interior design firm
The Designers Group—the team is pleased to share details of their collaboration with Clever Bee education centers, including a look at new designs from ongoing projects across 15 locations. Clever Bee brings an enhanced quality of childcare and education to communities in need, allowing students to thrive in various areas of development. The team is working alongside the organization to redesign the interior outfitting of centers, primarily in Ohio, cultivating an environment that facilitates the organization’s goal to provide equal access to quality child development and care to families.
The Designers Group is working in tandem with Clever Bee to integrate the organization’s fresh rebranding into each of their interior spaces, establishing a bright, welcoming, and lively atmosphere for children to feel comfortable day to day. The redesign will also enhance the services offered to students, facilitating an environment to supplement the work of each location’s therapists, teachers, and caregivers.
The classroom layouts are meticulously designed to allow staff to provide the best care possible, encouraging each child’s intellectual and physical development. Each space includes thoughtful design elements to cater to the differences in space usage by children in different age groups, considering the square footage required for the varying child-to-teacher ratios. The bee-utiful designs weave the buzzing mascot of Clever Bee throughout each location, from hexagon storage elements to playful graphics encouraging students to “Bee Kind” and “Bee Intelligent.”

Each location will feature a customized facade, including unique signage and window graphics. Though design details will vary based on each location’s layout and needs, the functional design of each administrative and classroom space will remain consistent, incorporating bright colors, safety features, and bee-inspired decor. Classroom design will also include updated technology and resources to adapt to new standards of education and early childhood care, including programs tailored to different age groups including infants, toddlers, pre-school, and school age children. Educational programming focuses on various areas of critical childhood development, including language, speech, socialization, and intellectual stimulation. Each intentional design element of the classroom facilitates activities such as reading, circle time, blocks & toy play, math & manipulatives, and dramatic play as well as designated creative art areas, sleeping areas, and technology areas. The Designers Group’s vision for Clever Bee supports and enhances the organization’s mission to provide the best possible care for students of varying age groups through clever design that encourages strong, positive relationships between staff and children.
