Target’s larger store format makes room for fulfillment

Target will shift to a larger footprint in about 30 new stores and 100 remodels next year as part of a plan to grow capacity to fulfill digital orders. The new format encompasses nearly 150,000 square feet, compared with the average of 130,000 square feet, and it includes a larger food section in addition to a greatly expanded backroom designated for order fulfillment.
