Target plans to improve market penetration by adding smaller-footprint stores to neighborhood shopping centers where big-box stores are not possible. These TargetExpress locations, one of the company’s urban formats, offer about 20,000 square feet of space, compared to the company’s 116,000-square-foot flagship stores.
