The New Jersey chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA-NJ) has presented Hoboken, N.J.–based architectural firm Minervini Vandermark Architecture with a merit award in the built residential category for its work on the Tribeca Lofts, located at 930 Jefferson Street in Hoboken, New Jersey.
Sitting at the southwest corner of 10th and Jefferson Streets, the structure offers three equally prominent facades and an impressive view of the Manhattan skyline. The building maximizes floor-to-ceiling glazing and outdoor balcony space for stunning views of the skyline as well as a neighboring high school football field.

The design team incorporated an exterior material palette that includes brick, exposed concrete, frameless curtain-wall glazing, aluminum-clad timber windows, clear anodized aluminum cladding and terracotta panels and baguettes used for screening and guardrails.
“We’re very grateful of the recognition we’re receiving for the design of Tribeca West,” said Frank Minervini, AIA, Principal of Minervini Vandermark. “We took a relatively small building and produced a design that mirrors the full-fledged aesthetic and functionality of a Manhattan condo.”
The building is on track to receive LEED Gold certification for its implementation of sustainable technologies including storm-water detention and grey-water reuse, solar paneling, low-flush plumbing fixtures, a high-efficiency elevator and Energy Star-rated appliances.
“In addition to the ingenuity showcased in this building’s design, it is also environmentally friendly,” said Kimberly Bunn, AIA, president of AIA-NJ. “Sustainable Design is a hallmark of architecture, and we appreciate seeing works at the cutting edge that are also responsible to the planet.”
The building features 15 one-, two-, and three-bedroom units from 800 to more than 1,600 square feet. Many of the units have amenities including decks, balconies and private rooftop patios.
About the AIA-NJ Annual Design Awards
The AIA-NJ Annual Design Awards program recognizes architectural projects that exhibit design excellence in one of four categories: open (meant for any building type), residential, historic preservation and interior architecture. Projects are further designated as either “built” or “un-built.” To be eligible, projects must be either located in New Jersey or designed by an AIA-NJ architect. Submitted projects are evaluated during the organization’s annual Design Conference by a group of distinguished architects from throughout the country.
