Although it doesn’t have the money needed for a high-speed rail line, the Texas Department of Transportation has conducted feasibility studies of a line that could connect Houston and Dallas. It found that the project could use existing rights of way along major highways. Some say the 90-minute ride between the two cities could be enough of a draw to get private funding for the project.
