ROYAL THAI MUSES APPLYING VIVA MAGENTA, PANTONE 2023 COLOR OF THE YEAR

Luxury carpet manufacturer, Royal Thai, muses application of Pantone Color of the Year 2023, Viva Magenta.

Before diving into application, it is crucial to establish that the color magenta is merely an optical illusion produced by our eyes.

Between red and blue on the color wheel, the purplish-red-crimson color is particularly unique since it does not appear in the visible spectrum of light and has no associated wavelength. Rather, it is interpreted as a combination of red and blue on a physiological and psychological level. In that sense, magenta is a myth.

While it doesn’t exist according to the science of the human eye, our carpet experts have been designing with C303, the Royal Thai Viva Magenta equivalent, for years now. A crucial part of the brights section of our industry-leading pom box, C303 offers a much-needed bold punch to hospitality carpet designs.

Analogous color schemes using B303/Viva Magenta ooze a matrix-level luxury, while in more expressive pattern applications the hue steals the spotlight from its primary titled siblings, rising up as the third tone in triadic-schemed blue, magenta, and gold Axminster and Hand Tufted designs.

In other areas, the color snakes through corridors on fields of navy, overtakes traditional rug patterns with a glitchy twist, and bounces around in tetradic-schemed geometric patterns as the fourth chime in a melody of orange, green and navy.

How can something not technically exist yet deliver a punch like Viva Magenta? Does the hue not exist, or in another light, is it simply the compromise between two long standing primordial hues like red and blue. The middle child of the color wheel. The orphan Annie. Breaking traditional designs away from safe and settled hospitality gray. Or is it all a myth?
