The Rosendin Foundation, a dedicated 501(c)(3) non-profit committed to positively impacting communities and empowering individuals, brought back its TRF Camp Build, a free summer camp designed to ignite the joy of building in middle school students. This summer, TRF Camp Build is in Sterling for the first time, taking place from July 14-18, 2025 at the Rosendin building.
TRF Camp Build is a unique, free weeklong co-ed day camp tailored for current 6th-8th graders. The camp offers an immersive hands-on experience, providing participants with valuable skills that extend beyond the program’s duration.
The Next Generation of Construction is on
Under the expert guidance of skilled professionals, students will engage in a variety of activities, including personal safety training, concrete pouring and rebar shoring, soldering, pipe bending, Building Information Modeling (BIM), heavy equipment operation, framing, woodworking, roofing, and painting. These activities expose participants to a lifelong appreciation for building and a spectrum of career opportunities.
“Through TRF Camp Build, we’re empowering Sterling’s youth with practical skills and igniting their passion for building, all at no cost to families,” says Jolsna Thomas, President of The Rosendin Foundation. “This program is a gateway for students to explore diverse career paths in construction, fostering innovation and growth in our community for years to come and this year, parents and students can expect an exciting week filled with hands-on activities like soldering, woodworking, and even operating heavy equipment under expert guidance.”
Throughout the program, students will actively learn by working on interactive projects, such as wiring lamps, pouring concrete for stepping stones, and building a group project like a doghouse. Group projects are donated to a local community nonprofit, allowing participants to apply their newfound skills while making a positive impact.
“At TRF Camp Build, we bring together professionals from various local construction companies and trade organizations, creating a unique opportunity for them to give back and serve as role models for future industry leaders,” Thomas says. “Their involvement not only enriches the students’ experience but also strengthens the bonds within our local construction community, fostering a culture of mentorship and innovation.”
TRF Camp Build is actively seeking sponsors to further enhance its impactful initiatives. The program has already garnered substantial support from notable contributors, including Rosendin/Modular Power Solutions, Milwaukee Tool, DeWalt, United Rentals, Border States, Graybar, Klein Tools, and Dickies. The support of these sponsors and donors plays a crucial role in the success of TRF Camp Build, helping to create positive and lasting impacts in the community.
