Commentary from finder’s Consumer Advocate, Jennifer McDermott:
“For many people looking to boost their income this year, attempting a pay raise rather than seeking employment elsewhere is often the best first step. However, you need to be prepared when commencing discussions to best set you up for success.
“Not only do you need to approach with reasons why you are deserving of a raise, detailing specific achievements, but also come prepared with your new salary expectations. It is our hope that this analysis will help fortify people’s case.
“If you are not successful in gaining a pay raise, ask your manager for a development plan and timeline to work towards. Should you not be satisfied that they will deliver down the road, it may be time to consider employment elsewhere.”
