PERKINS EASTMAN ANNOUNCES 2025 PROMOTIONS

Global design practice Perkins Eastman celebrates the promotions of sixty-eight team members this year with the addition of six new Principals, ten Associate Principals, nineteen
Senior Associates, and thirty-three Associates. The collective impact, extraordinary skill, and strategic thinking of these individuals—leaders within both the firm and industry—is truly appreciated. These individuals inspire our people, advance culture, and champion design innovation.

Principals
• Principal Heather Cain, NCIDQ, LEED AP ID+C, utilizes more than thirty years of workplace design experience to create spaces—from modest tenant fit-outs to new headquarter complexes—that are functional, sustainable, and authentic.
• Principal Vijo Cherian, AICP, leverages three decades of planning and architecture experience to design walkable districts and distinctive urban places worldwide, from live-work communities, urban health facilities, and town centers to waterfronts and major transit hubs.
• Principal Kyle Kernozek, AIA, LEED AP, balances his passion for creating engaging and sustainable spaces with twenty-five years of architectural experience to craft large-scale institutional, educational, multifamily, and historic buildings with memorable environments for clients, users, and communities.
• Principal David Smallets, AIA, LEED AP, crafts large-scale, mixed-use residential projects that prioritize client needs while enhancing the community in impactful and enduring ways, thanks to twenty-five years of experience, a knack for problem-solving, and a holistic and sustainable approach to design.
• Principal Brett Swiatocha, AIA, co-leads the residential practice at Perkins Eastman, both firmwide and in the Washington, DC, studio, where he builds on seventeen years of expertise to design complex mixed-use and mixed-income multifamily projects that balance the needs of clients and neighborhood.
• Principal Kathryn Wagner, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, is an experienced project architect and fastidious project manager who guides projects of all scales from their initial conception to final construction, along with nineteen years of architectural experience and a passion for lifting up the entire design team throughout the process.

Associate Principals
• Associate Principal Seri Carroll, AIA, RA, EDAC, LEED BD+C, is a highly skilled project manager and architect with more than a decade of experience in senior living and healthcare design and a proven track record for delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Associate Principal Jack Chin, AIA, designs sustainable and high-performing K–12 learning environments that contribute to the urban environment and reflect culture and community, thanks to twenty-five years of design experience.
• Associate Principal Renee Deets brings a can-do attitude, robust financial and business knowledge, and more than thirty years of experience to her role as Perkins Eastman’s regional operations manager, helping to solve challenges and supporting the firm’s daily operations.
• Associate Principal Malcolm Edwards, AIA, with twelve years of expertise, is an adept project manager and resourceful problem solver who ensures seamless coordination between design, construction, and stakeholders for educational, municipal, and state-funded projects of varying scales and complexities.
• Associate Principal Sarah Johnson, RA, LEED AP, NCARB, works collaboratively with clients, consultants, contractors, and officials to shape high-quality higher education and healthcare projects, thanks to twenty years of experience in all phases of design and construction and a knack for developing design solutions that respond to unique needs.
• Associate Principal Charles Sinclair, NCIDQ, WELL AP, lends a pragmatic and accessible design approach, a knack for building client relationships that last, and a passion for mentoring junior staff, to design spaces that are both beautiful and purposeful, thanks to nearly twenty years of experience.
• Associate Principal Nate Sunderhaus, AIA, applies his passion for housing design and thirty years of expertise to serve as the multifamily practice area leader for the firm’s Philadelphia studio, spearheading design efforts for an array of project types ranging from large-scale master planning to mixed-use high-rises to urban infill projects.
• Associate Principal Douwe Wieberdink, AICP, LEED Green Associate, is a seasoned campus and urban planner with twenty years of professional expertise in master planning, facilities strategies, and data-informed design for higher education institutions.

• Associate Principal Xie Xin creates beautiful and comforting healing environments that reduce stress for patients and clinicians as the lead interior designer for the firm’s healthcare practice, thanks to thirteen years of experience and a passion for bettering the patient, staff, and visitor experience.
• Associate Principal Yun Yang is a talented designer with a robust portfolio of complex commercial, residential, and hospitality project work, a proven track record in leading project teams overseas, and twenty-three years of design expertise.

Recognizing Our Senior Associates and Associates
Perkins Eastman is proud to celebrate the well-deserved promotions of nineteen new Senior Associates.

These people include Emily Bamford, Ana Cristi Baquerizo, Danielle Bazemore, Qi Chen, Silvia Del Fava,Gavin D’Souza, Magdelina Falk, Mark Freker, Diego Garcia Blanco, Alex Knodel, Min Hua Liang, Shreya Malu, Nirupa (Nia) Puliyel, Jiajun Ren, Anshuman Roy, Kelsey Russo, Baine Rydin, Lina Taheri, and Qiong (Joanne)Zhu.
