Precision Building Construction LLC has broken ground on the new $1.3 million Lake Mary Arts and Fitness Center. The 10,482-square-foot center will be jointly owned and operated by Focus Performing Arts Studio and Champion Karate/Knockout Fitness.
The two companies have operated in separate locations in the Lake Mary
area for about 14 years. The new building will provide larger facilities for both
and be located at 905 Williston Park Point and Rinehart Road.
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of this year, said
Chuck Hobus, president of Orlando-based PBC. It is one of several recent projects
for PBC in the very active Seminole County commercial and industrial construction
corridors.
Jenny Clifton, owner of Focus Performing Arts Studio, and Mike Friedman, owner of Champion Karate/Knockout Fitness, said they chose PBC to build the new state-of-the-art facilities “after the firm was recommended to us by a former client of PBC. We’ve experienced very professional service and good communications from the builder.”
The center will be concrete block and stucco construction and include spring
flooring in the dance studio, as well as a café for patrons of both the dance studio
and the martial arts and fitness studios, said PBC vice president and project
manager Larry LaPlant.
Friedman added that the kickboxing and fitness areas will
be in two separate rooms so that adults can work out while their children
receive martial arts training.
Groundbreaking ceremonies were held July 28 and attended by Lake Mary
officials, including Mayor Dan Mealor, who is a former neighbor and long-time
friend of Clifton.
Focus Performing Arts Studio offers classes in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop
and contemporary dance and in musical theatre. Champion Karate offers classes
in American Kenpo and Pambuan Arnis martial arts for both children and adults.
Knockout Fitness provides both cardio and resistance training for full-body workouts.
