SODO Builders LA, LLC, general contractor for the new $168 million LA Marriott Hotel in California, selected Oldcastle Modular to factory build 393 prefabricated Eggrock bathroompods for the new dual-brand hotel, that includes 175 Courtyard by Marriott rooms and 218 Marriott Residence Inn rooms. By using advanced prefabrication techniques, prefabricated bathroom pods, the building team was able to compress the project’s original construction schedule by more than two months. The LA Marriott prefabricated bathrooms were assembled in a local manufacturing facility, shipped to the site, and slid into the super structure from the side, prior to erection of the facade. The Marriott’s two hotel brands are located within the 23-story building, in the LA Live neighborhood of downtown Los Angeles. The building, located at 901 West Olympic Boulevard, across from the Los Angeles Convention Center, is approximately 240’ tall with the helipad extending to approximately 250’ tall. The new Marriott, owned by American Life, is situated among California’s L.A. LIVE district– a 4 million sq. ft. sports, entertainment and residential district adjacent to the Los Angeles Convention Center. In the heart of the city synonymous with entertainment, L.A. LIVE offers residents, the business community and tourists world-class sports, music, film, dining, special events and accommodations. The LA Live Marriott hotel was scheduled to open July 2014 but has opened two months ahead of schedule, on May 29, 2014 and is seeking to attain a minimum of LEED Silver by the (USGBC) U.S. Green Building Council.
