NTCA plans 4 Regional Training Programs in September

Contractors in Massachusetts have the opportunity to learn about Gauged Porcelain Tile Panel/Slabs (GPTP/S) Installation, and those in New York and Illinois can get more information about Substrate Prep/Large-Format Tile (LFT), in standards-based, all-day Regional Trainings presented by the National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA).  
On Friday, September 2, tile contractors will have the opportunity attend the GPTP/S training at Belknap White Group, 10 Atlantic Avenue in Woburn, Mass, sponsored by Crossville. Trainers Matt Welner and Chad Jones will present the program. The following Friday, September 9, NTCA Trainers Matt Welner and Chad Jones will present Substrate Prep/LFT hosted and sponsored by Floor & Decor, 5151 Sunrise Highway in Bohemia, NY. On Thursday, September 22, Daltile at 345 University Avenue, Boston, Mass., will host and sponsor a GPTP/S program, presented by NTCA Trainers Robb Roderick and Chad Jones. The following Wednesday, September 28, Floor & Decor will host and sponsor a Substrate Prep/LFT training at 3443 W. Addison Street in Chicago, IL. These all-day trainings begin at 7:30 a.m.  
What to expect 
The GPTP/Slabs Training gives the grounding to install porcelain panels with confidence and accuracy. This free training will teach you the new tile industry standards and methods for installing GPTP. You’ll also learn how GPTP is made, where it can be used and the special tools, setting materials and techniques required to install it.  This program will emphasize: 

  • Introduction to tile industry standards 
  • Use of ANSI A108.19 to install Gauged Porcelain Tile and Panels 
  • Use of specialty tools and setting materials to install GPTP 
  • Working with a team to install GPTP 

The Substrate Preparation and Large-Format Tile Training will show you how to use the ANSI A 108 standards and TCNA Handbook to address real world challenges in hands-on installations focusing on substrate examination and preparation for setting large-format tile. 
 The program will address:  

  • ANSI standards and how to apply them 
  • How to use the TCNA Handbook 
  • Different substrates and standards that apply to them 
  • Substrate preparation 
  • Setting large-format tile
