The new ABB Discovery Parkway Building has been awarded the rating of LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Gold! Employees began moving into the building in May, 2014.
In order to receive this rating, a facility must earn between 60–79 points in the following nine (9) aspects for green buildings:
– Integrative Process
– Location & Transportation
– Sustainable Sites
– Water Efficiency
– Energy & Atmosphere
– Materials & Resources
– Indoor Environmental Quality
– Innovation in Design
– Regional Priority
LEED is a globally recognized program, with certified buildings in over 150 various countries around the world. Other well-known companies with LEED certification include Starbucks, Marriott, Kohl’s, and Wells Fargo.
Todd Brown, Local Business Manager for ABB DMDR, noted that work continues for earning the LEED certification for ABB’s Glendale Drive, New Berlin, WI office and manufacturing site, as well. Both locations have earned high marks for Indoor Environmental Quality, Innovation in Design, and Sustainable Sites, he said.
