NELSON Worldwide, award-winning architecture, design, and strategy firm, has strengthened its leadership with the addition of Philip Otto. Based in Cincinnati, Philip will work closely with clients and project teams throughout the design process to create spaces that build emotional connection and elevate the experience.

“I am thrilled to become part of the innovative team that’s helping to shape the ever-evolving retail industry,” comments Philip. “I am committed to exploring the intersection between design, architecture, art, and culture to create meaningful connections with communities. I am looking forward to working with the team at NELSON to inspire through design.”

Culturally curious, Philip is passionate about innovative retail design and enjoys developing concepts that respond to the changes happening in our culture. In his new role as Director of Retail, Philip’s unique perspective will support the firm’s retail practice to expand NELSON’s reach. Consumer behaviors and preferences will evolve post-COVID, and Phil’s brand strategy expertise will allow for continued innovation that results in culturally-based projects.

“Phil has a passion for designing spaces that support the user experience,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NELSON Worldwide, John “Ozzie” Nelson Jr. “We are excited to have Phil join the NELSON team to help strengthen and support our retail practice.”

Before joining, Philip served as creative director on projects for museums, retailers, and developers. He has worked with some of the premier brands in the world, including Anthropologie, Coca-Cola International, Levi’s, Nike, Undefeated, The North Face, Free People, Urban Outfitters, and REI Co-op. He has also worked as an educator at the University of Cincinnati and is currently teaching an undergraduate course on design trends a graduate level course on design issues in the DAAP program.
