Rosendin, one of the nation’s largest employee-owned electrical contracting companies, celebrated Jason Reaves for winning the
National Safety Council’s 2024 Rising Stars of Safety award. Reaves is one of just 38 individuals from 8 countries who was honored for his proven record of safety leadership and dedication to promoting a cycle of continuous improvement.
As a Senior Environmental, Health & Safety Manager at Rosendin, Reaves supports a team of 75 union electrical workers and takes an innovative approach to protecting colleagues in high-risk environments. He leads safety initiatives like jobsite training, new hire orientation, and daily audits, and developed a mobile app that helps electricians follow a process to ensure equipment is de-energized before servicing.
“Jason is deserving of the 2024 NSC Rising Star of Safety award because he is intentional about what he hopes to achieve and works hard to help his colleagues, his division, and Rosendin’s larger safety team,” said Susanne Beckwith, Rosendin Regional Safety Director. “He utilizes new technologies and trusted principles to develop programs that protect Rosendin team members, as well as other subcontractors on shared job sites, and we are proud to recognize his accomplishments. “
Reaves works closely with the larger electrical team during bid reviews for
commercial construction projects, where he determines if additional safety measures must be taken before a job begins. He is also a proactive communicator who writes weekly safety reports and shares insights from data analysis, incident assessment, and best practices resources from groups like the American Society of Safety Professionals. To ensure everyone at Rosendin can access the information, Reaves even created an internal webpage for employees to access these reports, along with training materials, safety documents, and a calendar of training events.
“I believe that a strong safety program is critical to business operations in high-risk industries like construction because it shows employees are valued as individuals,” said Jason Reaves, Senior EHS Manager. “Rosendin’s commitment to protecting workers demonstrates leadership truly cares about their people and I believe this can only be achieved with collaboration throughout all levels of the organization.”
“National Safety Council award winners don’t just aim to check off a box for safety. These leaders understand that they must prioritize safety at every level of decision making. We are proud to honor each of our nominees and our incredible winners, all of whom are committed to working alongside NSC to save lives, from the workplace to anyplace,” said Lorraine Martin, President and CEO of the National Safety Council.
Reaves was recognized at the 2024 NSC Congress and Expo in Orlando during the National Award Ceremony in September. He was also featured in the September issue of Safety + Health magazine and was profiled on the
Safety+Health website, alongside the other winners.
