National Pepperoni Pizza Day was this past Tuesday 20th and it’s the perfect time for a delicious story about the country’s preferences in 2022.

Little Caesars tops them all, according to a new report from TOP Agency, a leading market research firm tracking consumer preferences.

According to the 2022 Pizza Consumption Index — a study of pizza preferences and eating habits of more than 12M U.S adults — Little Caesars is the preferred pizza chain in 16 states followed by Godfathers (10), and Domino’s (8).

Key insights from the report include:

1. NEW YORK IS NO LONGER THE PIZZA CAPITAL
Citizens of over 30 states consumed pizza more frequently than New Yorkers, including Californians who eat it twice as often. 

2. INCREASING PANDEMIC PIZZA MUNCHIES
With COVID restrictions loosening, the pizza industry is thriving, with Americans eating 32% more pizza in 2022.

3. PINEAPPLE HATERS COME OUT VICTORIOUS
In a debate as old as time, 54% of respondents claimed that pineapple does not belong on a pizza. 

4. PIZZA CHAINS SLICING THE COUNTRY
Although Little Caesars came out on top in 16 states, the states are divided on their favorite pizza chain, with Marco’s Pizza (10), Domino’s (8), Godfathers (7), and Pizza Hut (3) rounding out the top 5 chains in the Nation.
