LG Electronics USA is streamlining the process of securing HVAC installation configuration certification in Florida by certifying a number of wind load complaint drawings for LG VRF (variable refrigerant flow) and DFS (duct-free split) outdoor condensing units.
While final installation designs must still be approved by a Florida licensed and registered professional engineer, these approvals will allow contractors to select the drawing that works for their design, while removing a step of the potentially long process.
The State of Florida, frequently in the “Cone of Probability” for hurricanes, has implemented strict wind load requirements for HVAC installations to ensure safety and building stability. LG’s certified wind load compliant installation drawings for VRF and DFS condensing units address Florida’s building codes that require HVAC installations to meet county wind load minimums.
LG certified drawings are available for these installation types:
- Roof mount at 128/109/105/95 psf,
- Ground mount at 82/73/60/38 psf
- Wall mount at128/114 psf for Zones 4 and 5
These air conditioning installation drawings meet building code requirements in accordance with the Florida Building Code (FBC) 2014, 5th Edition, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures ASCE 7-2010 and Miami Dade Wind Speed calculations.
The certified LG installation drawings, Microsoft Excel Drawing LOOKUP Tool (used to determine the necessary certifications by Florida P.E., Paul C. Perrin) are available by contacting local LG representatives found on www.LGHVAC.com.
“Getting these drawings certified and making them available to our customers up front, helps streamline the design of LG HVAC solutions in Florida,” said Brian Bogdan, director of engineering, Air Conditioning Systems, LG Electronics USA.
