Koala Kare Products, the leader in changing stations for public use, will showcase its latest inclusive adult changing station and commercial care solutions during the AIA Conference on Architecture & Design 2026, the industry’s largest, premier annual gathering for architecture, engineering, and construction.
In booth 1235, Koala Kare will highlight its adult changing stations, including a live, hands-on KB3000 unit for visitors to experience the design in action. An adult changing station is a wall-mounted platform with a height-adjustable surface designed to support individuals who need assistance for restroom use or changing. These devices are engineered with high weight capacities and powered lift systems to facilitate safe transfers from wheelchairs.
Koala Kare offers two options for adult changing stations: the KB3000, which is ideal for high-traffic environments such as airports, stadiums, and transit hubs, and the KB2600, which is well suited for controlled and clinical environments, including offices, houses of worship, and care facilities.

Koala Kare’s KB3000 Adult Changing Station is engineered with robust specifications to ensure safety, durability, and ease of maintenance. Key safety and compliance features include a built-in battery backup for operation during power outages, dual height-adjustment buttons, a height-adjustable changing surface for safe transfers, and medical-grade certifications such as UL 962 and ISO 60601. The KB3000 features a 500-lbs. (227 kg) capacity, IK10-rated impact resistance, and a crevice-free polyethylene surface that is IPX4 water resistant for easy cleaning and sanitizing. The durability of these units ensures a long-term facility investment, built to withstand continuous use.
“Architects today have an imperative to design for the full spectrum of human needs, moving beyond minimal compliance to achieve true dignity in public spaces,” said Bonnie Yatkeman, brand manager at Koala Kare. “The adult changing stations are essential components of a universal restroom, empowering architects to create spaces that are truly accessible and enduring.”
Koala Kare will also feature new baby changing station designs and complementary washroom products in the booth, including:
- The KB311 baby changing station in matte black to integrate into washroom designs with a high-end aesthetic focus
- Never-before-seen baby changing stations with all-new veneer-front finishes
- Key features such as Microban product protection and ADA compliance
This focus on inclusive design extends to Koala Kare’s educational presence at AIA26. During the conference, Bethany Harrington, AIA, will lead a session titled “Specifying the Universal Restroom” on June 11 at 11:30 a.m. PST in the SDCC Design Theater.
This Continuing Education-accredited session will cover the role of adult changing stations in achieving inclusive public facility design, including who they are for and which types of buildings need them. Attendees will also learn specific design elements for the universal or dedicated restrooms required by individuals who cannot use standard handicap-accessible facilities.
