JLL just published its 2025 Global Data Center Outlook, which explores the latest sector trends and the opportunities and challenges rapid expansion brings, including demand outstripping supply and some markets experiencing electricity constraints.

Despite the generative AI boom fueling unprecedented demand for data centers, JLL finds that the cost and availability of power to support advanced AI workloads will hinder development across the globe. The report delves deeper into the path ahead for operators and developers and looks at how AI is inciting a fundamental shift in data center design, site selection and power sourcing.

The report covers four key areas:

  • Artificial intelligence’s impact on the data center sector
  • Power grids and the enthusiasm for alternative energy sources like large-scale nuclear and small modular reactors
  • Liquid cooling and need for energy efficiency impacting data center design
  • Investor demand – JLL anticipates data center development financing will have another record year in 2025

You may view and download the full report here, and the press release is below and also on our newsroom.

Let me know if you’d like to speak with a member of our Data Center team to discuss key findings from the global report and explore what it will take for operators and governments to navigate the opportunities and challenges in 2025 and beyond.
