The International Interior Design Association’s New York Chapter (IIDA NY) is proud to announce the inauguration of Elisabeth Mejia as Chapter President for the 2025–2026 term. The official appointment will take place during the Chapter’s Annual Members Meeting on Tuesday, July 15 at 5:30 PM, hosted at Kimball International’s New York showroom. Mejia, an Office Design Leader at HKS, succeeds Christin Weaver, who served as Chapter President for the 2024–2025 term, and will mentor Robin Reigi, who was elected President for the 2026-2027 term.

The 2025 IIDA NY Members Meeting will celebrate the transition of leadership by welcoming incoming Board members and recognizing those who have completed their terms. The Chapter’s outgoing president (Weaver) will reflect on IIDA NY’s accomplishments over the past year, while the incoming president (Mejia) will share her vision for the year ahead. The 2025–2026 Board of Directors will be officially inducted, and the Chapter will extend its gratitude to the many volunteers who continue to support its mission.

As a professional interior design organization, IIDA NY unites design professionals throughout New York State, providing networking opportunities, educational events, and charitable initiatives for members. The Chapter strives to celebrate design, encourage collaboration, share knowledge, and advocate for the interior design community.

Before this role, Mejia served as Co-Vice President of Student Development. An active member of IIDA NY since 2015, she brings a deep commitment to mentorship, student engagement, and community building. Over the years, she has held several leadership positions within the chapter, beginning as a member of the Professional Development Committee. She later joined the Healthcare Forum and went on to serve as Co-Chair of Design Camp.

Mejia first became involved with IIDA NY after relocating to New York, drawn by a desire to re-establish the sense of professional community she had valued in previous design organizations. Her goals as president center on cultivating intentional and impactful connections across all facets of the Chapter, bringing together designers, students, design firm advocates, and industry partners in ways that deepen engagements and foster a greater sense of belonging.

“I’m honored to serve as President of IIDA NY,” said Mejia. “This chapter has been instrumental in shaping my career and sense of purpose, and I’m proud to lead with a focus on connection and community. I look forward to continuing our efforts to build a supportive, inclusive environment that empowers all our members alike, as we create meaningful opportunities for connection, mentorship, and development across the chapter.”
