The Houck Group has joined the Roofing Alliance as its newest Governor Member. The Harrisburg, Pennsylvania-based company is the 204th member to join this esteemed group, strengthening a collective of forward-thinking leaders dedicated to shaping and advancing the roofing industry’s future.
Houck has been a leader in building envelope solutions, specializing in roofing, flooring, masonry restoration, waterproofing, and more. Built on their values of honor, humility and health, Houck continues to deliver trusted craftmanship across the mid-Atlantic region. In 1947, Lawrence E. Houck had a vision that he wanted to make a reality leading to the start of a small masonry contracting business. In 1980, Lawrence’s son Gary L. Houck, a Penn State graduate and U.S. Army veteran, took the reins after working alongside his father.
Over the years, the company has been recognized with numerous awards for its dedication to quality and safety. Today, what began as a small operation has grown into a well-respected company serving all of Central Pennsylvania.
“I’m proud to support the Roofing Alliance and give back in this way to the roofing industry,” says Kara Houck McCaffrey, CWO (Chief Wellness Officer) & Vice Chair. “Their prioritization on education and training is near and dear to my heart, having spent over a decade in corporate education before returning to the construction industry. Training for construction workers is huge—from a learning perspective, as a growth opportunity, and to elevate the importance and professionalism of roofing. I’m thankful for all the Roofing Alliance does to move the workforce and the industry forward.”
Strengthening the roofing industry
The Roofing Alliance has attracted some of the best and brightest roofing professionals in the industry, uniting them in a shared mission to drive the industry forward. Together, they oversee and fund innovative programs and research initiatives that shape, enhance, and propel the roofing industry in four critical areas: education and training, technology, sustainability and philanthropy.
“Member participation is vital within the Roofing Alliance, and much of the organization’s strength comes from its broad base of supportive contributors,” says Executive Director Alison L. LaValley, CAE. “The roofing industry has a wonderful history of generosity, and for roofing professionals who would like to be involved in giving back and securing the future excellence of the roofing industry, the Roofing Alliance provides the perfect opportunity to collaborate, commit and contribute on multiple levels.”
The Roofing Alliance serves as a catalyst for innovation, bringing together a dedicated community of more than 200 roofing professionals from across the industry. With a commitment exceeding $16 million, the Roofing Alliance funds essential research and training initiatives, fosters educational advancement through its construction management programs and the esteemed Melvin Kruger Scholarship Program, and leads critical workforce development initiatives.
