A leading area electrical contractor throughout New England and the Southeast for nearly five decades, Wayne J. Griffin Electric Inc. (Griffin Electric) once again celebrated the U.S. Department of Labor’s “National Apprenticeship Week.” Griffin Electric, which has participated each year since the inception of the federal initiative in 2015, understands how important it is to recognize the many students and instructors of its in-house Apprenticeship Training Program, who continue to have a profound impact on the company’s success.

In appreciation of all the hard work these individuals put in every day, Griffin Electric gifted a Klein Tools 14-in-1 Precision Screwdriver / Nut Driver to each apprentice and teacher. During Saturday classes, the company also raffled off a series of prizes throughout the day and provided food trucks or a catered lunch to everyone in each of its locations in New England and the Southeast.

Griffin Electric’s fully accredited program is a debt-free alternative to traditional schooling and has helped prepare many apprentices in pursuit of their licensure to transition into electrician and telecom technician roles for over thirty years.

Designated as an approved training site by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the company’s program features a mix of classroom instruction, hands-on training, and on-the-job learning. The program is separated into four levels of instruction and is offered on-site at the company’s Holliston, Massachusettes headquarters, as well as at its regional offices in Pelham, Alabama; Doraville, Georgia; Charlotte; and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolins.

Apprentices earn excellent compensation and receive full benefits, and are also eligible for wage increases every six months, based on grades and work performance. Griffin Electric is deeply committed to the development of each of its apprentices and strives to offer
the tools needed to help them achieve their goals, further their career and personal growth, and reach their full potential.

“National Apprenticeship Week” is an important reminder of how fortunate Griffin Electric is to have so many talented employees on its team. The work these apprentices are putting in on the jobsite and in the classroom has a direct impact on the communities that the company has helped shape through the thousands of successful projects it has built together. The company remains grateful every day to be able to “Work with the Best. Be the Best.”

What is National Apprenticeship Week?

“National Apprenticeship Week” is a nationwide celebration where employers, industry representatives, labor organizations, community-based organizations, workforce partners, educational institutions, and federal, state and local government agencies host events to showcase the successes and value of Registered Apprenticeship for strengthening our economy by developing a highly skilled workforce to meet industry needs, creating pathways for career seekers to catapult into good jobs and advancing racial and gender equity.

NAW gives Registered Apprenticeship sponsors the opportunity to showcase their programs, facilities, and apprentices in their community.

Additionally, NAW is the ideal platform to demonstrate the unifying power of the ApprenticeshipUSA ecosystem by uplifting examples of partnership and collaboration among national registered apprenticeship system partners, including employers, apprentices and graduates, community-based organizations, education and training providers, federal partners, industry associations, intermediaries, labor unions, state apprenticeship agencies, apprenticeship grantees and contractors, Apprenticeship Ambassadors and U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) apprenticeship staff.
