ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions has again been recognized for its commitment to good design concepts across all aspects of the business – this time by being presented as a standard for future entrants in the HOW In-House Design Awards. ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions’ Creative Services department was previously awarded as a HOW In-House Design Award Business-To-Business Merit winner for marketing materials highlighting the Muséo Line of decorative levers from Corbin Russwin.
Good design is an underlying value in all ASSA ABLOY initiatives, notably in product development where the company continuously introduces door and hardware solutions that improve the health, well-being, productivity and happiness for those who live, work, learn and heal in the places that people care about most. However, the good design concepts that are inherent in the products are also shared across the company’s many departments. The recognition earned by the Corbin Russwin Muséo marketing materials reflect this principle of good design that is embraced by the Creative Services team.
“Design is part of our identity; it’s in our DNA,” said Faye Pite, Director of Visual Development and Creative Services for ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions. “At our core, we want to keep people safe and secure. Well-designed marketing materials successfully convey the features and benefits of our products and entice the end-user to consider upgrading their security. With a clear, concise message, we make safety and security easy to understand. And that achieves the end goal of keeping people and places safe.”
Another example of ASSA ABLOY’s commitment to design is The Good Design Studio Blog (https://www.thegooddesignstudioblog.com), which explores the innovative ways in which door, frame, hardware and accessory products from ASSA ABLOY Group brands combine to provide rated and certified door opening solutions that are safe, secure, resilient, sound controlled, energy efficient, sustainable and aesthetically appealing.
Sandy Matheny, Director, Decorative Opening Solutions and blog editor, uses the online forum to demonstrate the powerful connections doors and door hardware can make with building occupants.
“A person’s first experience in a space can be affected by the way a door looks, and by the way the lever or pull on that door feels,” says Matheny. “And while life safety and security may be ‘job one’ for door openings, they must also insulate from noise, create a barrier against the heat and the cold, be sustainable and energy efficient, and be aesthetically harmonious with the dominant character of a space.”
ASSA ABLOY has also won numerous awards for its product designs, including multiple Good Design Awards and GREEN GOOD DESIGN Awards from The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design.
