FORTA’s Products Receive Environmental Claims Verification

NEU: An ACI Center of Excellence for Carbon Neutral Concrete is pleased to announce that FORTA LLC products, Forta-Ferro® fibrous reinforcement and Helix® Micro Rebar reinforcements have received an environmental verification statement from NEU. NEU’s Third-party Validation/Verification Program provides an independent, impartial assessment of environmental claims for technologies focused on reduced-carbon cement, concrete and related solutions.

The scope of verification was for the Forta-Helix™ EcoMetricsTM v1.0 Program which calculates and compares the cradle-to-gate global warming potential (lifecycle stages A1–A3) of slab-on-grade concrete members with Forta-Ferro® fibrous reinforcement and Helix® Micro Rebar reinforcements versus traditional steel reinforcements.

Why verification is important

NEU’s program is designed to ensure that environmental information (a claim) regarding a product or technology is independently and impartially verified, thus building industry confidence. The NEU Validation/Verification Program follows internationally accepted ISO standards to provide impartial validation of future outcomes or verification of historical data. It assesses the reasonableness, methods and results of environmental claims submitted by the technology owners. These FORTA technologies have met the verifiable environmental claims required by the program.

“We are pleased to announce that the environmental information claim submitted by FORTA for their products have been independently verified by NEU,” said Mahmut Ekenel, P.E., PhD, FACI. “Environmental verification is a thorough process that relies on the commitment of the manufacturer to work closely with NEU during the process, to ensure the information is valid and complete.”
