FK Architecture, a Fugleberg Koch Company and a leading design firm known for its innovative approach to hospitality projects, is pleased to announce the opening of the Home2 Suites and Hampton Inn by Hilton East Austin. The 276-room, 164,372-square-foot hotel, designed by FK Architecture and developed by F10 Hotels and Floridays Development Co., represents a key component of the redevelopment of the East Cesar Chavez and East Austin neighborhoods, known for events such as SXSW and Austin City Limits.
Located at the intersection of East 5th Street and Robert T. Martinez Jr. Street, the hotel makes a bold statement as a corner property. FK Architecture’s design team drew inspiration from Austin’s rich history and its reputation as a hub for innovation, creating a structure that pays homage to the city’s past while embracing its future, offering a unique blend of industrial heritage and contemporary design.
“Our goal was to create a hotel that feels distinctly Austin,” said Luis Rosado, Principal at FK Architecture and Project Designer. “We wanted to capture the essence of the city’s industrial past while incorporating modern elements that reflect its status as a growing tech and cultural center.”
The hotel’s exterior is a blend of materials and textures, including rustic metal accents and varying brick patterns with clerestory windows that allow natural light. To achieve a harmonious balance between old and new, different hues and patterns of brick are juxtaposed against smooth stucco surfaces, creating a visually striking facade that tells a story of architectural evolution.

“We wanted guests to feel the history of Austin as soon as they approach the building, but also experience the comfort and amenities of a modern hotel once inside,” explained Rosado.
In addition to the hotel itself, FK Architecture was tasked with designing the adjacent 90,000-square-foot parking garage. The hotel’s internal amenities include a pool, guest gym, business center, gracious lounge, and breakfast areas.
FK’s collaborators on the Home2 Suites and Hampton Inn by Hilton East Austin project include civil and MEP engineer WGI, structural engineer SCA SkyDancing, and landscape architect Blacksmith Collaborative.
As of late September, the hotel is working at 100% occupancy, offering visitors and locals alike a unique opportunity to experience the architectural evolution of Austin firsthand.
