FK Architecture, a Fugleberg Koch Company, is pleased to announce its selection as the architecture firm of record for a new hotel development project in East Austin, Texas. FK Architecture has a long-standing relationship with Floridays Development designing notable hospitality projects. FK Architecture and Floridays Development teamed with F10 Hotels to revitalize Austin’s hospitality sector in a post-COVID-19 world by designing and building a five-story hotel in East Austin. The project is planned as a 276-room, 164,372 square foot hotel spanning a 2.2-acre site. Additional construction will include an 89,123-square foot, a multilevel parking garage, a rain garden, landscaping and hardscape, amenity pool and deck, utility, and drainage improvements.
“We could not be more excited to design such an important project in East Austin,” said James E. Kelley Jr., AIA, Managing Principal at FK Architecture. “The pandemic hit the hospitality sector hard. Our design philosophy centers around leisure and comfort to help the area regain the allure it had before the health crisis.”
The hotel’s location at 2033 E. 5th St, Austin, Texas is currently the center of a rapidly gentrifying area that will soon house a variety of hospitality projects— this new development will be at the center of it all.
FK Architecture is the Architectural designer and AOR for the hotel, while Blacksmith Collaborative is the landscape architect, WGI Inc. is the civil/MEP Engineers, and SCA Consulting Engineers is the structural engineer on the project. The development will require the demolition of an existing 3,407 square foot residential building and a 53,051-square-foot metal structure.
