Elecosoft UK Ltd, developer of the construction project scheduling software Asta Powerproject, today appointed a new U.S. Channel Sales Manager to oversee the product’s rapid growth in the U.S. market.
AEC software veteran Jim Dawkins will lead a team of experienced, regional distributors of Asta Powerproject.
“Now is a great time to be involved in project scheduling as construction firms of all sizes are seeking easy yet powerful tools like Asta Powerproject and Asta Powerproject BIM to strengthen their project controls efforts,” said Dawkins. “I’m excited to be on board as the user market grows and the software continues to build a loyal customer base here in the U.S.”
Asta Powerproject was originally released in the UK in 1988 and has more than 80,000 users in that country, Europe, Australia, Asia, and the Arabian Peninsula. The company began selling Asta Powerproject in the US in 2013.
Dawkins is the first U.S.-based employee for the firm.
He taps into a vast network of contacts and years of experience in his new role. Dawkins will work with resellers to educate prospective clients about Asta Powerproject and the importance of project scheduling. He will also help build brand awareness at conferences and association events, negotiate complex deals, and continue to develop the network of strategic resellers.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Jim to the Elecosoft team,” said Jason Ruddle, the company’s managing director. “His background and passion for finding solutions for clients makes him an ideal fit for our company’s culture and a great advocate for Asta Powerproject as we continue to build our footprint in the U.S. market.”
Before joining Elecosoft, Dawkins was a sales manager of construction ERP software at Viewpoint and a sales director at architecture and engineering software maker Deltek. He has been a consultant on engineering, project management, process improvement, and AEC software. Dawkins has also been a VP of sales for an aerospace technology firm, an engineer for Haliburton, and an adjunct professor of Information Sciences at the University of Denver.
For his part, Dawkins attributes the quick adoption of Asta Powerproject in North America to the strong distributor channel as well as pent-up demand for an affordable, easy-to-learn, viable construction project scheduling alternative.
“There is an incredible wealth of domain knowledge among our distributors, both in terms of construction scheduling best practices but also the practical application of innovative tools among industry leading construction firms,” he says. “We’re going to do everything we can to support them and the new Asta Powerproject users they bring on board.”
