Chris Tilton of the Dewitt Tilton Group, a leading commercial and industrial construction company serving the Georgia and South Carolina markets, presented to the membership of the Realtors Commercial Alliance of Savannah & Hilton Head at the group’s quarterly meeting.
Tilton’s presentation “From Buying the Dirt to Obtaining the Permit: The Critical Steps to Starting a Commercial and Industrial Construction Project” delivered a summation of the building process. Starting with identifying the correct location for a particular business, designing the specifications and breaking ground, to finishing touches and handing over the keys, the speech offered useful information for commercial realtors.
“Sharing knowledge is a big part of making these projects go as smoothly as possible. When the commercial realtor has that baseline understanding of what we do as construction professionals, everyone benefits, especially the customer,” Tilton said. “It builds confidence when we all understand what to be mindful of at certain steps, and that builds better business relationships.”
Of specific interest to commercial realtors was understanding how potential construction issues may adversely affect land deals that appear to be favorable. Tilton also covered this and other related topics.
The Realtors Commercial Alliance serves the community by providing advocacy and market data while promoting the Savannah, Hilton Head and South Georgia commercial real estate practitioners and affiliated industries. For more information, visit savannaharearealtors.com/rca.
