It is with great sadness that CTS Cement Manufacturing shares with you that Jerry Hoyle, CEO, passed away this past month on Oct. 31, at the age of 69.
He is survived by his wife Ann and his two children.
Hoyle was president and CEO of CTS from 2011 – 2014. He relinquished his positon as president in 2014 and assumed the position of vice chairman of the board, while retaining his position as CEO. With more than four decades of experience in the cement industry, Hoyle was recognized as an expert in the industry.
“Jerry was a very down to earth, genuine person, who left a lasting impression on us all,” said Frank Senatore, president of Packaged Products and International Sales.  “I’ll miss his fighting spirit around the office the most, but feel confident that it will live on in all of us here at CTS. Jerry was truly one of kind, and will be missed dearly.”
“We all know Jerry was a strong and determined leader who was incredibly dedicated to CTS,” said Ken Vallens, president of Engineering Sales and Research. “For many of us here, Jerry was more than just a leader and manager; he was a supporter, a confidant, a mentor and a friend. CTS has many talented and dedicated people who will usher it through this difficult time and ensure it goes on to great success, but it won’t be quite the same without Jerry.”
He was a member of the American Management Association and a past board member of the Merchants and Manufacturers Association. He had a broad range of expertise within the mining/manufacturing arena including mineralogy, quarrying, cement plant operations, multiple kilns (wet to precalciner), finish grinding, product specifications, quality assurance programs and product applications. His career path included managerial and operational experience to provide him with the necessary background to lead any business unit through strategic change that allows for higher performance and growth.
“Jerry’s leadership positioned CTS Cement Manufacturing as the industry leader,” said Ed Rice, chairman emeritus and founder of CTS Cement Manufacturing Corp. “But more than that, he was a valued friend and co-worker to us all. He will be greatly missed.”
Bill McCormick will serve as the acting CEO. He is the former president of CTS and chairman of the board.
