Construction employment rose in 218 of America’s 339 metropolitan areas between May 2013 and May 2014, with 40 states and Washington, D.C., adding jobs year-over-year, according to the Associated General Contractors of America. However, growth could be stifled by the potential insolvency of the Highway Trust Fund. It is important that Congress quickly pass a long-term highway and transit bill [that] will give many construction employers the security they need to begin adding to their payrolls.
