CCCT sat down with Michelle Horn, VP of Communications with the Fisher House Foundation & Joe Jena, Director, Talent Acquisition with 84 Lumber on “Hire A US Veteran Day”.
July 25th, 2024, is “National Hire a Veteran Day” (#HireAVeteranDay), a reminder to employers to consider hiring veterans to fill their open positions.
Every day, hundreds of our military personnel leave the service in search of civilian employment. However, veterans entering the workforce after military service face a variety of challenges, and vying for civilian positions can be difficult for transitioning veterans. Most military personnel who went straight from high school or college into the military have never applied for a job before. What’s worse is the fact that these men and women are having difficulty translating their broad military experiences into private sector employment skills.
