“Design ‘N Gather 2016” (DNG), the international mosaic design competition sponsored by Bostik (Bostik.com/us) and Artaic Innovative Mosaic (artaic.com), has been expertly chronicled via a state-of-the-art video just released.

For months, mosaic enthusiasts worldwide submitted mosaic mural designs based upon the theme “The Essence of Las Vegas.” The grand prizewinner, designer Nicole Faith Kohri, had her creation “Delta Waves,” unveiled in front of 1,500 hospitality design professionals as a 20’ x 8’ backlit mosaic tile mural… permanently installed poolside at MGM Grand’s “Wet Republic.” The overall marketing campaign, which included Bostik being a major sponsor of both HD Expo and the AIA Convention, was incredibly successful in many ways.
According to Chris Eichman, Bostik’s Marketing Communications Manager, “I am extremely pleased with the results of this integrated campaign centered around the mosaic mural contest. This program wouldn’t have been possible without the support and collaboration of Artaic and also… the total professionalism contributed by the great team from MGM. Our latest video captures the excitement of this one-of-a kind marketing project, which was another integral part of our global thrust to build Bostik brand recognition.
“The opportunity to have the winning masterpiece installed prominently… and, permanently… at the MGM Grand is an incredible coup for everyone involved in this campaign. I’m especially happy for Nicole Kohri, this year’s winner, and the mass recognition she has received as a result.”
“Together with Artaic, we want to give back to the design community,” stated Scott Banda, Bostik’s Director of Marketing and Business Development. “Everyone loves mosaic design, but its popularity has decreased over the years due to cost of labor and long turnaround time, forcing Americans to go offshore to procure these designs. To remedy this, Artaic invented a computerized process where mosaic designs are assembled by robots. This regimen is hundreds of times faster than the archaic, time-consuming process of putting little mosaic squares into place by hand.”
Inventor and scientist, Artaic’s Dr. Ted Acworth added, “Our relationship with Bostik began when we started using Dimension® RapidCure™ Grout, their unique formulation which contains 60% recycled glass content. The product is easy to apply, highly durable and most of all, actually adds more luminosity to mosaic productions. For example, if a project contains glass mosaics, imagine another light source being incorporated: that’s what Dimension® RapidCure™ offers.”
After the event, Artaic even went as far as to offer Nicole Kohri some “focused project work.” Acworth concluded, “Bostik and Artaic want not only to bring back the popularity, appreciation and enthusiasm which comes along with true mosaic design. Together, we want to find highly talented, motivated young designers who see mosaics as their future. And if possible, we want to help them jump-start their design careers.”
Planning for DNG 2017 will be gearing up soon. Look for forthcoming announcements to be appearing on both Bostik and Artaic websites… and in the national press.
