Renewable Lubricants introduces Bio-Process™ Oils, a family of blended, highly refined biosynthetic base oils (Biobased) that are sustainable and safer than neutral petroleum mineral oils for use as release agents in asphalt applications where runoff is a consideration. Their extremely low volatility increases the flash and fire safety features, and there are no VOCs), making Bio-Process™ Oils safer for employees. They are available in viscosity grades (SUS) of 50, 70, 100, 150, and 200, to suit a wide range of applications, climates, and preferences. Stabilized* to resist oxidation and provide light color stability, they are odorless and chlorine-, and sulfur-free. Highly refined, bleached, deodorized oils are high in oleic acid content for higher stability over conventional vegetable oils. They provide excellent compatibility with elastomers, mineral and synthetic oils, and provide excellent lubricity.
Available in 1-gallon containers, 5-gallon pails, 55-gallon drums, 275- and 330-gallon totes, and bulk, from the Hartville, OH factory. Bio-Process™ Oils are readily biodegradable, renewable, more fire resistant, EPA and ISO 1400 compliant, and with no Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) they are safer and have low toxicity.
In addition to paving applications, non-toxic, Foo Grade Bio-Process™ Oils exceed US FDA regulation 21 CFR 178.3620 (b and c) for use as canning oils, dust suppressants, paper defoamers, in adhesives, rubber articles, and as a surface lubricant for the food packaging and caning. They also function as processing aids in, and extender oils in rubber compounding where vegetable oils may enhance the process.
Incorporating the super high viscosity index of the Stabilized* High Oleic Base Stocks (HOBS) into the formula increases the viscosity index past systemic levels (Energy Conserving Formulas), providing improved thermal shear stability and increased load capacity.
To ensure performance and long life, Renewable Lubricants developed the stringent IsoGreen filtration standard which meets or exceeds the Rexroth pump guidelines for hydraulic fluids. Non-toxic, zinc-free formulations contain no heavy metals. In addition to enhancing performance, Bio-Process™ Oils help companies achieve their sustainability goals. With patented antioxidants (Stabilized™*), these biosynthetics provide improved performance in oxidation stability over standard plant/vegetable/HETG and unsaturated HEES type fluids. They are highly inhibited against moisture and rusting in both fresh and sea water, and pass A and B sequences of the ASTM D-665 Turbine Oil Rust Test. Formulated to provide a longer seal life with reduced oil leakage, this environmentally friendly, zinc-free product is ideal for vane, piston, and gear-type pumps and have shown excellent anti-wear performance in ASTM D-4172 Four Ball Wear Test. The anti-wear performance meets and exceeds requirements for Vickers M-2950-S (35VQ-25) and I-286-S (V-104C), Rexroth, US Steel 126, 136, and 127, and DIN51524 Part 2.
Renewable Lubricants, Inc. began as a research and development company in 1991, developing high performance products that would directly replace petroleum-based products. Starting from a single corn-based engine oil developed in the inventor’s garage, the company now offers more than 250 products and has over 100 worldwide patents. They manufacture their products as environmentally friendly as possible without sacrificing performance. NOTES:
STABILIZED by Renewable Lubricants™ is RLI’s trademark on their proprietary and patented anti-oxidant, anti-wear, and cold flow technology. High Oleic Base Stock (HOBS) are agricultural vegetable oils. This Stabilized technology allows the HOBS to perform as a high-performance formula in high and low temperature applications, reducing oil thickening and deposits. Patented product: US Patent 6,383,992, US Patent 6,534,454 with additional Pending and Foreign Patents.Feature Image Courtesy of Renewable Lubricants Inc.
