Ball Janik, LLP is pleased to welcome Attorneys Blake Konkol and Leah Golbuff to its Orlando office as the firm continues to expand its footprint across Florida. Golbuff will focus on insurance recovery matters, while Konkol will handle construction defect matters.

“We welcome Leah and Blake,  to our Orlando team, and congratulate them for recently passing the Bar,” said James C. Prichard, Ball Janik Managing Partner. “As our firm broadens our practice in areas such as construction defect litigation and insurance matters, we continue to add to our headcount and provide our clients with added resources.”

Golbuff represents business and individual policyholders in insurance coverage litigation and preparation of trial exhibits. Her prior experience includes time at some of the top firms in Orlando, working on injury recovery and other insurance matters. She also previously worked with the United States Marshal Service in Washington, D.C., applying her skills in criminal case data and analyzing incoming threats.

Golbuff earned her law degree from Barry University’s Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law, where she graduated with honors and a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Florida State University. While studying at Barry, Golbuff served as a senior editor of the law school’s Child and Family Law Journal; she was also a member of the Trial Team and the Criminal Law Society.

“Ball Janik is an industry leader in standing up for policyholder rights and achieving just outcomes for our clients,” said Golbuff.  “I am thrilled to be working with a very talented team on insurance recovery and resolving other matters in Central Florida and across the state.”

Konkol’s construction defect work entails advocating on behalf of both owners and HOAs. His prior experience includes working with a personal injury firm as well as stints at the Allegheny County and Centre County Offices of the District Attorneys and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Blake earned his law degree from Penn State Law and his bachelor’s degree in art history from the University of Florida. During his time at Penn State Law, Konkol was a member of the Student Bar Association’s Executive Board and mentored undergraduates as well as other law students.

“It is an honor to be a part of Ball Janik’s respected construction defects team, and I look forward to many productive years together,” said Konkol. “Because the pace of new housing in Central Florida continues to increase, we must be ready to handle a higher number of cases surrounding construction flaws than ever before.”
