American WeatherStar Supply Chain Update: 04/2022

So far for 2022, I can report that the state of our supply chain is strong! I write this with a very humble mindset as I know from last year that things can change very quickly. I must stress that the information I have at this time is only as good as at the time of this writing. Who knows what tomorrow brings. My goal is to keep you informed to the best of my ability, and I hope this information is helpful to you and your business.
As we begin Q2, the demand for roof restoration has never been stronger. Try to take every advantage of this opportunity. Build and/or diversify your business during this time. It looks like 2022 is going to be a great year!
As for pricing, at this time we do not have any scheduled increases. While we have seen a few increases on raw materials we have decided to absorb the increases at this time. Obviously, if things change, we will let you know as soon as possible.
Spray Polyurethane Foam is the one key exception on pricing. The SPF market is as volatile as ever and it is very frustrating. More details below.
Below are more details on the specific chemistries:
Urethane Coatings: Supply for urethane looks strong for April and beyond. Demand at times does outrun supply of Urethane Brush-Grade 522. If this happens, mixing Micro Fibers 1000 with Urethane 520 makes for a great substitute to 522. As a reminder, the Micro Fibers 1000 can be mixed with any of our coating-grade materials in order to blend your own brush-grade as thick as you need. Please call Technical Services or your field rep for more details.
Silicone Coatings: I’m thrilled to report that all is well in the silicone world—at least as of today! We have been successful in keeping up with demand. The only issue I see is possible delays due to capacity here at our facility. So, please plan your jobs out as best you can to ensure that potential capacity issues don’t slow your job down.
Acrylic Coatings: No disruption at this time. As the season warms up, I certainly see some delays due to capacity, but raw material supply does seem to be steady.
Spray Polyurethane Foam: This is the toughest of all products we work with. As a distributor for several brands, we have little to no control. Prices have continued to rise and supply continues to be slow. Most manufacturers are quoting 4-8 weeks before shipping after a PO has been placed. As with 2021, SPF pricing is from day of shipping, not the day the purchase order is received.
Terminator Roof Sealants: We have plenty Terminator 622 (2-gallon pails) in stock. I do see an issue with tubes coming up. The packaging process creates a major slow down on tubes.
In summary, planning is the key to all of our success. If we can plan jobs in advance, we can be successful. As an optimist, I continue to see this as a great opportunity for the roof coatings side of the industry to gain market share. Please let us know how we can help you be successful.
Thank you for the opportunity.
