GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (www.gza.com), a leading environmental and geotechnical consulting firm, recently celebrated its 50th anniversary at a reception with firm principals from around the United States, as well as clients, employees, local and state officials, and the firm’s two original founders.
Donald S. Goldberg and William Zoino, who in 1964 founded Goldberg Zoino Associates (which would later become known as GZA GeoEnvironmental), addressed the crowd of 300 and recalled the early days of the firm. These two gentlemen were flanked by every CEO who has headed the firm in its 50 year history, including current CEO Bill Hadge.
CEO Hadge thanked all of the people in the room for helping GZA with its growth, and recalled the firm’s many accomplishments. The firm, founded in 1964, was traded publicly for part of its history and in 2000 a number of the firm’s principals purchased the company and turned it back to private ownership.
GZA was officially recognized for its many contributions to the region and its economy in proclamation documents from the Massachusetts State Senate, House of Representatives, and the Town of Norwood, where GZA maintains its corporate headquarters.
State Representative Thomas Calter, who worked in the environmental industry prior to becoming a state representative, presented official commendations from State Senator Michael Rush and State Representative John Rogers. Calter spoke of GZA’s many accomplishments and its strong reputation in the industry. “GZA is a highly-regarded member of the environmental community and we are all pleased to share this important anniversary with you.”
Representative Calter’s comments were echoed by Norwood Selectman Allan Howard, who praised GZA as a strong corporate neighbor to Norwood and a firm known for its excellence.
In addition, the 50th anniversary was celebrated at company offices throughout New England, the Mid-Atlantic and the Great Lakes.
“We are proud to celebrate 50 years of working with great clients, great employees and great friends,” said Hadge. “50 years is about relationships – our relationships with each other, with our clients and with our communities. We are proud of the loyalty of our staff to the Company, and our loyalty to each other. We are proud of the loyalty our clients have shown us, and we have tried at all times to hold their needs and interests paramount. And we are proud of the contributions we’ve made to our communities, through our projects, through our giving and through our personal initiative and involvement.”
