SchenkelShultz Architecture is proud to announce its design of the Estero Fire Rescue Station No. 45 and Training Facility in Lee County. The project is a continuation of the firm’s commitment to design highly functional Public Safety facilities that elevate community safety and engagement.

“This project blends efficient operational principles with design elements inspired by the natural beauty of the site surrounded by Corkscrew Preserve,” said Nathalie White, Project Designer in the firm’s Fort Myers office. “Station 45 will provide Fire and EMS emergency response, training and a community presence to meet the Fire District’s goals and expand as needed in the future.”

The new 19,200 sq. ft. facility will meet the demand for the growing Estero community. The five-acre site features an open layout for rapid response, a biodiversity garden, training area and fitness trail. The fire station will include three drive-through bays and two back-in bays; dayroom, kitchen, bunk rooms, fitness room, a secure, public lobby and a multi-purpose training room for community use.  Several design strategies were incorporated to promote the health, safety and wellness of first responders, including using sustainable materials and creating separate zones for living and working with features that reduce exposure to hazardous chemicals.  The project also includes a multi-building training area with structures designed to simulate real-world scenarios for first responders that includes a mobile home, multi-story residential homes, a large concrete apron for multiple vehicle access and a fuel station.

SchenkelShultz has completed more than 90 Public Safety projects including fire / EMS stations, emergency operations centers, fire training facilities, police stations and law enforcement training centers.
