Are you about to finish up a construction project? Whether you have a new build or are in the midst of a home renovation, there’s going to be some post construction cleaning tools involved in getting the home ready for family living.
Residential post-construction cleaning rates vary from place to place, but you should budget somewhere between $0.10 and $0.50 per square foot with an average size home costing around $1000 depending on the type of cleaning needed.
Post-construction cleaning is a task you may not have thought about when the project began. Stick with us to discover the most helpful residential post-construction cleaning tips to put on your post-construction cleaning checklist.

  1. Open Up Doors and Windows

Proper ventilation is important during the cleaning process. Open up everything…doors and windows. Create a cross breeze if possible to get dust moving out along with odors and fumes from cleaning products. Paints and polishes will dry quicker as well.

  1. Sweep and Then Let the Dust Settle

Use a broom to sweep up dust and debris. Dusting will gather up what’s on the floor but it will also disperse the dust into the air and around the room. Let it settle before you continue cleaning.
Move on to the next room to sweep while the dust settles in the one you just did. Once the dust is on surfaces rather than in the air, you’ll be able to get rid of it.

  1. Vacuum and Dust Everything

Use a microfiber cloth to dust all your surfaces including walls, windows, baseboards, cabinets, window ledges, and tops of the door frames. Clean the cloth off as needed.
Once you’ve dusted, it’s time to vacuum every nook and cranny to contain the last of the dirt and dust.

  1. Wet Cleaning

Clean the bathrooms, kitchen, countertops, appliances with all-purpose cleaning solutions. Remove stickers from light fixtures and appliances.
Clean the inside of cabinets and drawers. Mop the floors and wipe down the walls.

  1. Clean Windows and Frames

This is the last thing on your checklist. Have a window cleaning in Cincinnati, OH clean the windows while being careful not to scratch them. Use a simple window cleaner with newspaper for a streak-free clean. Don’t forget the frames and the tracks. Take screens out to spray with water if they are caked with dust.
