Beautiful carpets in our homes can give your house a stunning appearance. Carpets can improve the home’s insulation and they can be used as extra protection for a person if they have a fall in comparison to harder floor services like tiles or timber flooring. It is no secret that carpets can take a lot of maintenance to keep dust and dirt off our carpets. At different times of the year, when doing seasonal house maintenance, carpets cause homeowners lots of difficulties. During the warmer times of the year, you can expect more dust coming into your home and getting stuck in your carpets. During the winter, especially at Christmas and New Year’s eve a person might drop some red wine on the fabric of the carpet. Your pets might come in soaking wet after being out in the rain, bringing dirt and destroying your carpet. To help you remove these stubborn and keep your carpets clean, here is a list of simple hacks.

Homemade Carpet-Cleaning Spray

Lots of people purchase commercial carpet cleaning products from their local grocery store. Many of these products use harmful chemicals. To save money and avoid using these products you can easily create your carpet cleaning spray. This will help you maintain your carpet, but it will also give your carpets a fresh restore to the original freshness. Families with pets and young children often find maintaining a carpet an uphill battle so hopefully this solution will make life that bit easier.
Add 250ml of white vinegar into a spray bottle. Then add around 500ml of water, 15 grams of salt, and around 12 drops of essential oils. Choose whatever oil you prefer, pine and lavender are nice options. Spray the solution on the carpet.

Do It Yourself Carpet Cleaner And Conditioner

You should be able to find most of these ingredients in your home. It will leave your carpets feeling soft and smelling great.
Get a bucket and add 30ml of liquid laundry detergent. Add around 60 ml of liquid cleaner. Two tablespoons of OxiClean, 5ml of fabric softener, and approximately one gallon of hot water. Please do not scrub the solution into the area. To remove stains, try using the stain removing solution below before you use this.

How To Remove A Fresh Red Wine Or Fresh Coffee Stain From Carpets?

If coffee or red wine spills on your carpet act quickly! The faster you tend to the stain, the easier it will be to remove. If you leave the stain too long the liquid will soak into the carpet’s fabric. Get cold water and a microfibre cloth and blot the cloth with the water directly on the stain. Whatever you do, don’t scrub the stain. You could make it a lot worse and spread the stain by doing so. Make sure that the cloth remains clean and if it gets dirty, immediately change it for a clean one or rinse it thoroughly.

How To Make A Homemade Solution To Treat Urine Stains?

Let’s face it, young children and pets can leave horrible urine stains on our carpets. Accidents do happen, and these stains look terrible on our carpets and can leave a horrific odor behind.
Just like a coffee or red wine stain, don’t wait around for the carpet to absorb the stain. You can use white vinegar and baking soda to help remove lots of different types of carpet stains including urine stains. Here is a simple, easy to make a solution that should bring back the original look of your carpet and also leave the room smelling great.
Get a spray bottle and add 1 and a half cups of distilled white vinegar. Pour two cups of warm water and 5 tablespoons of baking soda. Shake the ingredients well and spray them on the stain. You can get a towel or a microfibre cloth and soak it with the solution you have just made. Put the wet cloth on the floor and place a heavy object on top of the cloth to allow the urine to soak. You can use a heavy book or something similar to help weigh the cloth down. Take off the book and cloth after a few minutes and blot the stain with a clean towel or rag. Again, remember not to scrub as this can make the stain worse and cause the urine to get stuck in the carpet’s fiber.
If the stain has been there for a long time this method might not work you might have to purchase pet enzymes. Enzymes will help kill the bacteria and leave a nice smell on your carpet.
