IKEA U.S.’s future San Antonio-area store will open at 9 a.m. (CST) on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019. IKEA Live Oak will be the Swedish company’s fifth store in Texas and the 49th in the U.S. Customers, which can begin lining up at the store at 5 a.m. (CST) that morning, soon will be able to learn more about grand opening plans and promotions at www.IKEA-usa.com/LiveOak or by joining the free IKEA Family loyalty program.
The 289,000-square-foot future IKEA Live Oak store will reflect the same unique architectural design for which IKEA stores are known worldwide. It will be built on 31 acres at the southwest corner of Interstate 35 and Loop 1604, approximately 15 miles northeast of downtown San Antonio. The future IKEA Live Oak will feature nearly 10,000 exclusively designed items, multiple inspirational room-settings, three model home interiors, a supervised children’s play area, and a restaurant serving Swedish specialties such as meatballs with lingonberries and salmon plates, as well as American dishes.
In addition to the more than 500 construction jobs that were created, approximately 250 co-workers will have joined the IKEA family when the new store opens. Diverse positions are still available in sales, customer service, goods flow, receiving, warehouse and stock replenishment.
