The Occupational Safety and Health Administration renewed the Electrical Transmission and Distribution (ET&D) Partnership with industry stakeholders for an additional five-year term on Oct. 30.
The partnership is a formal collaboration of industry stakeholders working together to improve worker safety in the high-voltage electric line construction industry. Impacting the majority of workers in the industry, it is the only national partnership between employers and OSHA. The partnership develops and implements best practices and industry-specific courses that directly correspond with key hazards and operations associated with injuries, illnesses and fatalities in the industry.
At the partnership renewal ceremony, Acting Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health Loren Sweatt addressed members of the ET&D Partnership Executive and Steering committees, recognizing the importance of the work the partnership performs.
Chairman and CEO of Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC Scott Asplundh, who serves as chair of the partnership’s executive committee, noted the partnership has made great strides in improving safety in the industry.
“This collaboration among industry stakeholders is making a real impact for lineworkers across the country,” Asplundh said. “The renewal of this agreement is an opportunity to continue making improvements to our practices to keep people safe.”
Due to the best practices and training materials developed under the agreement, millions of workers have benefited from the partnership program since it began.
